Make your website mobile friendly

A mobile-friendly website lets people reach essential information and complete important actions on a small screen.

The short answer

Test the website on a phone using real content. Read the opening, open the menu, view a service and follow the contact route. Fix problems that prevent reading or action first. A smaller desktop preview is not a complete check: visitors need to finish their actual task independently.

Start with the visitor’s task

Choose a specific mobile situation: someone needs your address while travelling, checks your services after a recommendation or wants to ask a question from a project example. Record the information and actions required. This lets you judge the page by its use rather than only by its appearance.

Do not make essential information depend on a decorative image or complicated effect. The service name, working area and contact option should make sense as ordinary text.

Read the actual words on screen

Check your real headings and paragraphs. Long business names, specialist terms and translated menu options can behave differently from short demonstration copy. Divide a heavy paragraph when it covers several subjects and replace a vague heading with a concrete question or description that helps readers find the relevant information.

Also examine the contrast you can actually see at different screen brightness settings. A photograph behind text can look calm in one crop and busy in another. Move important explanations onto a quieter background if the picture keeps obstructing the message. A larger heading does not fix unclear content.

Check image crops and meaning

For every important photograph, check whether the subject remains visible in the mobile crop. An interior image with its relevant detail at the far right may lose its meaning on a narrow screen. Choose a more suitable picture or adjust its presentation within the design’s available options.

Do not place necessary information exclusively inside an image. A poster showing opening hours can become difficult to read; supply those hours as text too. Review your image descriptions for relevance and avoid adding invented locations or project details just to make a description sound more complete.

Follow navigation and contact all the way

Open and close the menu using your fingers. Visit a second page and return. Check that buttons are recognisable and sufficiently separated so you do not repeatedly hit the wrong action. Repeat with the final labels rather than relying on a design that still contains short placeholders.

Follow the contact route to its end. A visible button does not prove that requests are handled. Flova does not automatically add a booking integration or contact form backend. If the page points to email or an external service, check the destination and the explanation visitors receive before leaving the page.

  • The opening and main action are understandable.
  • Headings and menu labels remain readable.
  • Important subjects remain visible in photographs.
  • Menus and links can be used with fingers.
  • Contact leads to a checked destination.
  • Every language has been reviewed separately.

Repeat after content changes

A mobile preview is a useful first step; check important routes on a real device when possible. Ask someone unfamiliar with the business to find your address or a particular service. Watch where they hesitate before explaining where the answer is, since that uncertainty is useful feedback.

Record issues with the page name, device and attempted action. Remove blockers before polishing smaller visual details. Repeat after new pictures, longer copy or extra menu items. A meaningful review describes what was actually tested and does not promise universal perfection or invent a performance score to imply certainty.

Frequently asked questions

Is a mobile preview enough?

It helps with an initial check. Also try important actions on a real phone when you can, because fingers and actual content may reveal additional problems.

Should I show less content on mobile?

Not automatically. Keep necessary information reachable. Structure long explanations and remove repetition before removing material people need to make their decision.
